SMSHP continued its tradition of introducing the newly elected President-Elect of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. When ASHP Pres-Elect, Kevin J. Colgan came to Detroit for his obligatory visit to an SMSHP meeting, he didn't realize he would be surrounded by such a welcoming crowd!

   Local pharmacy residents had covered the meeting hall with their research posters. Pharmacy students from Wayne State University and Residents from local organizations were also present. Mr. Colgan went up to each poster and spoke with the resident about their project. His interest and respect for the students as the new generation of the profession was evident.

   As ASHP Pres-Elect, Mr. Colgan gave a presentation on the latest initiatives of the National organisation. He addressed how the health-care platforms of the major presidential candidates affected the pharmacy profession. His presentation was an introduction to the students of what the profession faces. Afterwards he sat with students and talked about thier concerns.
